The Gem We Know, The Gem We Ignore

As a county, we know what we have—The Congo of Kenya! A land rich in resources, yet exploited and used. Our cries of injustice echo through time, but deep down, we know—our tears of exploitation are of our own making. We have forgotten a simple truth: a community must be built by us, not for us.

Time and again, I am reminded of the smallest unit of a community—the family. If it is broken, if trust and structure within it cannot hold, then what hope do we have? What future do we build? Generations continue to be trapped in cycles of poverty and misery, not because we lack potential, but because we have refused to take responsibility for our own growth.

The Rise and Fall of a Visionary

I am looking for the founder of New Generation. A man whose name may no longer be spoken in pride, but whose impact cannot be erased. Despite the fall, he deserves a round of applause.

Many know his story—how he built men, inspired businesses, and touched the lives of both men and women alike. His influence shaped many careers, opened doors, and challenged norms. Yet, because of mistakes made, his name is now whispered only in judgment. But tell me, is a man’s legacy erased because of his failures?

Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Holding on to what no longer matters, seeking solace in places that offer none. What happens when the world of money crumbles? Where does a man turn when the empire he built no longer stands?

False Promises and Political Gimmicks

And then there’s the other kind of fall—the one we witness over and over again. So I hear—he came, he lied, he promised. Let’s give him a round of applause. ‘Ni barabara kutoka...’ and yet, sha’ ain't working!

Yes, President William Ruto was here, naming roads, making grand promises of development in Taita Taveta. But tell me, how many times have we heard this song? How long will we applaud empty words while our people remain trapped in struggle? If roads could be built on promises alone, Taita Taveta would be paved in gold by now.

Back Home – Who is Ready for Change?

Back home, in Taita Taveta, how many are truly ready to make change? How many are willing to stop complaining and start acting? How many are ready to rebuild, to restructure, to rewrite the future of our people?

We, at Voice of Taita, want to hear your thoughts. Let's meet, let's talk, let's strategize. Change will not come from waiting—it will come from action. Email us with your preferred venue and date. Let’s gather the minds that still believe in a better tomorrow.
